The backbone of Foss’ work is done through Thrive Design Studio, an international design and strategy firm currently operating out of Minneapolis. Through Thrive, Joshua creates inspiring spaces, experiences, and events that transform the way people interact with each other and their environment. He has worked on some of the most innovative projects in North America and Europe, including several that are striving for the Living Building Challenge, and has contributed to a diverse body of projects, from single family homes and small businesses to significant urban regeneration developments.

In addition to aesthetic design, Foss uses Thrive to collaborate with organizations on strategic design. His unique approach is focused on applying thrivability, an emerging philosophy that recognizes organizations as living systems, each nested within the living biosphere, and each with the potential to thrive if given the proper fertile conditions. Foss’ work is devoted to developing these fertile conditions and applying, planning, enabling and sharing them within organizational contexts.
